Education Events Committee

The Education Events Committee (EEC) oversees the development of all Greenbuild educational platform opportunities including events, conferences, tours, and summits promoting the adoption of green design, building and operations practices. The Education Events Committee directs and advises related working groups to support USGBC’s mission and educational objectives. Candidates are sought from a range of geographic region, member company size, and experience in conference education. Committee members are expected to adhere to the Code of Conduct for Committees and Working Groups.

This is a volunteer role.

More information

  • Bi-monthly conference calls beginning in January 2019 through December 2020
  • One in-person meeting in Washington, DC during the month of July (Dates TBA) of each year of the term (hotels, meals and travel covered by Informa Exhibitions)
  • Attendance at Greenbuild 2019 and 2020
  • Review and development of Greenbuild Call for Proposals
  • Review and development of sessions submitted for non-traditional education offerings, including speaker coaching, presentation review and onsite support
  • Independent research and knowledge of trends in conference education offerings, particularly in the green building marketplace

Required

  • USGBC Member
  • Previous Greenbuild attendance•
  • Attend an in-person annual retreat (Dates TBA, 2 weekdays in mid-July)
  • Able and willing to consistently dedicate time to this effort including bi-monthly 60-minute phone calls, session development, and independent research (approx. 2-6 hours per month)

Preferred

  • Educational programming/abstract review experience for Greenbuild and/or other industry conferences
  • International presentation and/or educational event execution experience
  • Experience as an exhibitor at other industry tradeshows
  • LEED Professional Accreditation
  • LEED-certified project design, construction, operations and/or management experience
  • Diverse industry conference, exposition and event attendance
  • Demonstrated knowledge of:
    • Green building best practices and strategies
    • Cutting-edge innovation and technologies
    • Industry continuing education requirements and offerings
    • Adult learning theory and strategies

Volunteer time is estimated at 2-6 hours per month over the time of the working group, plus an in-person meeting and travel to Washington D.C and attendance at Greenbuild.

Each term will be for two years. Please note that USGBC policy states that individuals may not serve on more than three USGBC committees and two working groups at any one time. Any one member organization may not have more than one representative on any one Committee and, except for federal government agencies, may have representatives on a maximum of five Committees and four Working Groups at any one time. Additionally, individuals are limited to four consecutive years on any one committee or working group.
