Program Working Group

The Greenbuild Program Working Group (PWG) works under the direction of the Education Events Committee. The working group oversees the development and delivery of educational programming intended to meet the needs of attendees to the annual Greenbuild International Conference & Expo. Working Group members are expected to adhere to the Code of Conduct for Committees and Working Groups.

This is a volunteer role.

PWG members will meet for bi-weekly conference calls January – May and are expected to complete the following tasks:

  • Nominate Subject Matter Experts for the second round of review “bucket teams” – January 2019
  • Review sessions in first round of review for Greenbuild – Jan. 22 – Feb. 5
  • Participate as working group liaison to 1-2 Greenbuild Bucket Teams – Feb. 13 – Mar. 6, 2019
  • Review approx. 200 proposals in preparation for the Program Working Group retreat – March 13 – April 2, 2019
  • Attend Greenbuild Program Retreat in Atlanta, GA – April 2-4, 2019
    • Select complete 120-minute or 60-minute sessions from those submitted through Cal
    • Identify key topic area holes in program and help develop invited sessions to fill those
    • Identify commonality in accepted sessions and develop Greenbuild Tracks
  • Attend Greenbuild 2019 in Atlanta, GA (Nov 19-21, 2019)

Required

  • Employee of USGBC Member Company
  • Able and willing to consistently dedicate time to this effort including bi-weekly calls from January through May, and independent research
  • Attend one annual retreat in early-April (hotel, meals and travel covered by Informa Exhibitions)
  • Attend Greenbuild 2019 in Atlanta, GA (November 19-21, 2019)

Preferred

  • Previous Greenbuild attendance
  • Educational programming/abstract review experience for Greenbuild and/or other industry conferences
  • Project and/or technical publication peer-review
  • LEED Professional Accreditation
  • LEED-certified project design, construction, operations and/or management experience
  • Diverse industry conference, exposition and event attendance
  • Demonstrated knowledge of:
    • Green building best practices and strategies
    • Cutting-edge innovation and technologies
    • Industry continuing education requirements and offerings
    • Adult learning theory and strategies

Bi-weekly conference calls and one in-person meeting. Volunteer time is estimated at 3-12 hours per month over the time of the working group.

Please note that USGBC policy states that individuals may not serve on more than three USGBC committees and two working groups at any one time. Any one member organization may not have more than one representative on any one Committee and, except for federal government agencies, may have representatives on a maximum of five Committees and four Working Groups at any one time. Additionally, individuals are limited to four consecutive years on any one committee or working group.
